FEEST: JATTOCH NIETTAN: Amsterdam waar leg dattan?

Zaterdag 1 november is het zover! De tweede editie van het nu al legendarische "Jattoch niettan" feest in het Poortgebouw, met als thema "Amsterdam waar leg dattan?" Haal je euromast t-shirt dus maar uit de kast en vergeet vooral je plat Rotterdams accent niet. Wij van 113b verzorgen het beeldend aspect van het feest en zullen ook wat muziekjes ten gehore brengen. Verder komt de Rotterdamse band "Ink" wat leuke liedjes spelen. En komt niemand minder dan Erik-B een liveset geven. Allemaal komen dus, het wordt gegarandeerd een knalfeest.

The Association of Friends of Reasonable Progress

Purpose of the tour : a.) to visit the underground points of The Netherlands and to meet the people that are working there. b.) to present the Slovenian artists and the situation in the country.

 

MARKO BRECELJ
How can one give a concise biography of an almost fifty year old who for ages now has not been doing that which he would most like to do, but that which he thinks is the most urgent? In his first life he became a legend as one of the most unique provokers on the ex-Yugoslav pop scene and the leader of the controversal band Buldozer. He spent his second life as a one-man-batallion performer and cultural activist. In the third life, he is running a full-time social experiment together with his wife Arijana for the last ten years. They perform daily social, cultural and art engagement leading MKC in Koper as the motor and promotor of self-organized alternative culture in Slovenia. Marko Brecelj still has six lives to go.

RUINS MATADOR (drum, bass, vocal) duo
Specific music from Ruins Matador is developed from tradition of new wave and contemporary artists like Tricky or Bjork. Band is constantly building its unique sound independent of exact musical genres. For their dark expressive sound they use hi-fi and low-fi technology sounds, free jazz rhythms combined with repetition and strong leading vocal. Live performance is build up with tension waiting for the eruption that never comes. The music is captured on five eps, currently the band is recording their debut album with electronic dance producer Boris Benko.

"Tudósok is known for it’s consequent radical experimental language of music in the idiom of rock and jazz. Tudósok, it is The Scientist choice to do research in themselves, achieving the heights of musical and poetical expressionism and dadaism. Poet, musician and painter Dr. Máriás, coming from the burning Yugoslavia has been working in Budapest since ’91 with fellow musicians from Hungary Benedek Kovács, Tóni Dezsõ and Krisztián Bartha. The band quickly became one of the most original and interesting actors of the Budapest new music scene for their concerts bursting with energy, epileptic rhythm, expessive poetry and absurd-like tales. Rooted in the civil-war and tensions in identity between East and West their music transmits a synthesis through a pure power of improvisation, avant garde attitude, deconstructed jazz and “neu” rock into an original, new scream that is joyful to hear. Captain Beefheart, Pere Ubu, Arto Lindsay, Lounge Lizards, Blurt, Nhe Zdahli and the Contorsions have all been mentioned to compare their music with, but they are something completely different, a unique new sound coming directly from the tragical and absurd present of East-Europe."

DEFDAF
DEFDAF was born near Orléans(France) in 1996. Originally called DEFENSE D’AFFICHER, the band plays a music based on metal/punk and HxC with passion, energy and honesty. In 1999, Mano, the drummer had a terrible car accident, and the band that started to play a lot had to stop brutally his boom during 2 years. In 2001, Mano’s come back gave the band a chance to rebirth. They turned the name “DEFENSE D’AFFICHER” into DEFDAF, became more original and always kept on mind the fact that everyband has to bring something new to the whole music. this is what they did, trying to stay far from some clichés, and emphasing their personal view of the world through their music and their lyrics. After a year 2001, which was a launching of the band with nice gigs and an unforgettable tour in CZ, where they discovered their now big friends ARTERY (www.arterymusic.com), 2002 was the year DEFDAF finally proved the music system that they exist.

Wilbert de Joode - contrabas, projectleiding

Een gulden regel bij muziekimprovisatie heet: luisteren is net zo belangrijk als spelen. Dat zit er bij de R:IP wel ingehamerd, constateerde improv-prof Wilbert de Joode recentelijk. Goed luisteren, zo merkte hij ook in sommige formaties met internationale collega’s, drijft echter weleens af naar muzikale vormelijkheid. Gaat U voor alstublieft, nee nee na U, met uw welnemen. Een etikette van de vrije improvisatie, kan het nog gekker? Wilbert vindt: let niet teveel op elk‡‡r, maar luister naar de Extra Kracht, de virtuele muzikant die het totaal van de muziek representeert. Schakel het visuele uit, om niet te hoeven zien dat de contrabassist naar zijn strijkstok grijpt. Wie zegt nou dat hij enkele gevoelige lijnen wil neerzetten? Misschien gaat hij een paar losse haren van die stok aftrekken, om daarna een slokje van zijn koffie te nemen. De Extra Kracht is de enige realiteit van het moment, wat volgt is hopelijk onvoorspelbaar. Anticiperen is meer iets voor het verkeer; het risico van een botsing is inherent aan een goed stuk vrije impro.

‘De Extra Kracht’ is een centraal aandachtspunt geweest in een workshopproject dat de R:IP de afgelopen maanden met Wilbert deed, en GOUDENHAMERS #5 is ingevuld met een presentatie van dit project. Bij de R:IP kan je elke maand een improvisatieconcert meemaken.

CIVIC TV will be a high summit of cultural engineers, anarchitects, urban explorers, peripatic hedonists, squatters, graffiti aficionados, street-artists, generative psychogeographers, space hijackers, folly-builders, invisible city excavators, collaborative mapping gurus and transdimensional tourists for the years to come.

The first episode (uraufführung) of CIVIC TV is a one day event that will present various approaches to understand, use & criticise the urban environment and how these practices are sustained. CIVIC TV will be a unique opportunity for those interested in alternative mental and spatial engineering to meet.

CREATIVE CITIES
Since a few years the creative position of cities is rediscovered. Culture is creative, innovative, new and experimental and therefore attracts corporations, tourists and other people to these cities which have the reputation of being creative, trendy, modern and very special for different reasons.

Cultural innovation is often developed on the edge of society, far away from the center of the city in old buildings, factories, freezones such as the Poortgebouw and so on. This kind of innovation is breaking the barriers between high and low culture, reality and virtual reality and commercial and non-profit initiatives. The concept of Creative Cities addresses this and tries to underline the social and econmic potential of these forms of cultural innovation.

Creative Cities asks what the policy of the City of Rotterdam is on this subject in a more international perspective including signs of the time like the experience economy and what the historical dimensions are of freezones and free-trading. But also the reality of how such freezones work in every day life will be expressed through a member of the Vereniging Poortgebouw and by the location in itself.
