Since 2004 Selah Sound is responsible for bringing back the reggae dances in Rotterdam with sessions such as Jahjahtown (Nighttown), Frontline Dub (Waterfront) & Roots N Kulcha (Boogje1). THE DISSIDENTS
The music of The Dissidents is a contemporary mix of different styles. The junction of Eighties with Dance as well as the lyrics breathe the dualism of our time. This leads to recognition mixed with alienation. Inspiration is found in the Eighties. Heavily influenced by old electronics like Kraftwerk and Joy Division, not forgetting the roots in guitar-energy like the Stooges and Pink Floyd plus industrial sounds like Front 242 but also Prodigy. The Dissidents reach forward by linking all of this to Dance, Breakbeat and Jungle. The lyrics are subversive and raw but also positive and will powering at the same time. Subjects as social and political awareness, pollution of the environment, love and death and especially different thinking!

SONIC ANGELS

S O n i c A n g e l s is Marc Angel lead vocal-guitar, Sylvia Angel backing vocals-bass, Pascaline Angel, Melody Angel and Tibo Angel successively on drums and in certains occasions at the same time !!! They began in august 2004 and they continue in the tradition of captiving garage punkrock, melodically inspired and wild. This extremely powerful band has an exciting feel for finely honed and driving melodies. Marc has also played with Sonny Vincent, Bobby Steele, Kevin K Band, with The Frenchies and more recently with The What!, Sylvia was the bass player with The What! (punkrock'n'roll) , Pascaline played with Les Clopatres (french punk band girls from the 80's ) and Cerclips. In April 2005 the band has added an other drummer, Melody, a beautiful black girl with a real fuck the world attitude and in december 2005 Tibo "The Crusader" came to record the new album and have fun on tour !!!

Op vrijdag 14 en zaterdag 15 december zijn er de jaarlijkse open dagen van het Poortgebouw. Op zaterdag worden er rondleidingen gegeven door het monumentale pand en is er een presentatie van het renovatieplan dat door de bewoners is ontwikkeld.

THE LEFTOVERS
Delivering hot-wired pop-punk with sharp melodic hooks and enough energy to power a fleet of 18-wheelers, the Leftovers hail from Portland, ME, and consist of Kurt Baker on bass and lead vocals, Andrew Rice on guitar and backing vocals, and Adam Woronoff on drums.Formed in 2002, the Leftovers made their recording debut in 2003 with an EP titled Mitton Street Special. A year later, the band released their first full album, Stop Drop Rock N Roll. Cheapskate Records joined forces with the band for their second long-player, 2006's Party Tonight, while Rally Records issued a three-song 7" the same year, Steppin' on My Heart.
