Poortgebouw kicks off the first of its _numbered_ evenings. Come join us for a vegan dinner followed by a performance by Matterlink (US), and DJing by One Man Nation (SG).

Matterlink performs a “live cinema”, sampling from thousands of shots from films both found and shot by his own hand. He triggers and transforms these shots as one would play the piano, from a midi keyboard always with the original sound attached. Building improvised refrains of sound and image with the shots, he transforms, resamples, and alters loops, creating sound/image-scapes, punctuating them with phrases as he explains : "...narrative strains emerge and are submerged back into the chaos of sound and image."

Matterlink (aka filmmaker James June Schneider) has worked with, amongst others; DJ Spooky, Andrew Sharpley (Stock, Hausen, and Walkman/AE), Alexei Borisov (Notchnoi Prospect), Violet and Elmapi.
