SUNDAY 9 MARCH
LIVE: Diametrics (DE - ex Ilse Lau) +
Nice New Outfit (DE) AANVANG 20:30 uur
DIAMETRICS
From time to time, a shock's necessary for something new to happen. As is the case with DIAMETRICS, the new Noisenewwaverock Trio from bremen, Germany - formerly known as ILSE LAU. In june 2007, former ilse lau guitarist ansgar decided for a completely new start in hamburg. This necessarily put a stop to the ten-year history of ilse lau, not at last because of ansgar's very original style. Fokke and henning didn't waste any time waiting for something to happen and began looking for a new drummer. Henning had been fed up with drumming for a long time anyway, so this was the chance to move over to the newly vacant six-string-and-singing position. Some auditions, second guitarists and drummers later, a comparatively young bloke called joern forced his way into the band - with quick and inventive hands and thoughts. After some months of intensive jamming and blabbering, songwriting and fag abuse, Diametrics are damn ready for your ears and eyes. They will get at you with their aesthetically dirty, consonantally discordant, metrically (In)Constant music. To be filed somewhere between contempo-rary british stuff, amphetamine reptile, early too pure, sst and the neue bremer schule.

NICE NEW OUTFIT
Dead As Disco - Resistance and Love The Hamburg-based instrumental art school threepiece NICE NEW OUTFIT are back with their second album called ?Strip down stand up", which means disarmament, deconstruction, stripping down and getting up with new clothes - a nice new outfit. The album starts like an 1981 SST record - you want to jump and sing along - and this time you acutally can do that! Nice New Outfit discovered their voices as a new instrument. And that works out absolutely fine with these delicately fragile songs. Nice New Outfit don't avoid the big gesture - they unwrap it to present a new state of beauty. This is jazz, this is Sonic Youth, this is resistivity, this is the quiescence of the late Talk Talk and, to put it into their own words: ?instrumental jet set, noise and some stars." Nice New Outfit present a record full of inspiration, a diverting and entertaining, always jittering utopy of love that you just can't resist.

SUNDAY 16 MARCH
PRESENTATION: FAKE Magazine & CD Compilation featuring: Malorix (dubstep/etnodance) vs. DJ FAKE (4th world music) AANVANG 20:30 uur
FAKE

MARVEL
from Linköping, Sweden, play old school Rock'n'Roll, like KISS, THE STOOGES and THE HIVES, even better than THE SEWERGROOVES. On top there's the striking voice of Vocalos. One easily could think of Paul Stanley behind the mic in person. Our heroes spend their days playing videogames and helping old ladies across the street awaiting world domination and a lifelong quest of fighting evil and the henchmen that follows in the shadows. And once in a while they drop what they do to enter the recording studio, sometimes naked, to get the work done. www.marvel.nu

Hawaiians
Earcatching bubblegum-poppunk'n'roll from Germany
This means three guys from Planet Hawaii play rock'n'roll like scary creatures from Pluto in the manner of their radioactive girlfriends - alright? The standing drummer sings of monsters from the sea, hula on mars, or just of the fact that his girlfriend is a sumoringer. Brought to fame by supporting The Queers, The Travoltas, as well as the Groovie Ghoulies and raved about by the OX magazine even before their debut 'Teenagers Love' came out in 2003. After a periode of playing shows and a little following break they are back with 'Hula on Mars' [2007].

WED.-THURS. 26-27 MARCH
WORKSHOP: Contrapolis Contrapolis is two days of workshops, walks, an exhibition and a public debate taking place the 26 and 27 of March, 2008, in the Poortgebouw, Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAi), and around the city of Rotterdam. The core question of the event would be "how is art, and cultural production more broadly, at once driving capitalist valorisation in the city and able to project forms of social relations that do not produce value for capital?"
The program of workshops, discussions, walks, presentations, installations and screenings articulate approaches and experiences around the contentious nexus of culture and urban regeneration in Rotterdam, Amsterdam, London, Glasgow and Barcelona. Workshops will be held at the Poortgebouw on the 26th and 27th and the public debate at the NAi on the 27th in the evening. An exhibition will also be situated at the NAi for the 2 days and over the month of April. Guided walks in Delfshaven, Crooswijk, Heijplaat and Rotterdam Zuid are planned.
