Piaz
Piaz is Rotterdam musician Paul Fitzpatrick, love child of Irish immigrants. Piaz deftly melts electro and techno with 80s synth and guitar pop to produce a simultaneously warm, melancholy, and exciting whole.

vrije improvisatie (free improvisation)

De magie van een muzikaal moment. Meer of minder gestructureerd. Uitersten en gulden middenwegen tussen klank en geluid. Onvoorspelbaar op dat ene kenmerk na: het komt nooit meer terug zoals het is geweest. En dat maakt elke laatste zondag van de maand in het Poortgebouw tot een uniek moment. Ga het zelf horen. Beter nog: doe er zelf aan mee. Unieke muzikale momenten maak je immers zelf. Pro en amateur samen en aan elkaar gelijk. En dat is ook uniek. Improvisation is merely the refinement of everyday thinking! (vrij naar Albert Einstein)

Both experienced and inexperienced improvisers are invited to come and play!

The only form of organization is that musicians tell the session leader in advance if they would like to play. The session leader will put ad-hoc ensembles together and call them on stage.  Of course, a limited number of musicians can participate. The audience will follow every move and sound, as the ad-hoc ensembles explore each other’s sonic vocabulary. Both experienced- and inexperienced improvisers can learn and grow from this encounter. The R-IP programmers try to make the most challenging and unorthodox combinations of musicians, aiming to have all of them broaden their horizons. (We can amplifiy a maximum of four instruments each session)
